Fifty years passed since the moment when the first power plant in the city supplied its first electric power to industrial enterprises and to many apartments of the city of Pavlodar. It was an outstanding event and today the heat-and-power plant with half-a-century history of operation proudly and with satisfaction celebrates its glorious anniversary.
On February 1, 1961, first turbine-driven generator of 25MW output capacity was put into operation. It supplied electric power to the power supply network of the city of Pavlodar. Putting the Heat-and-Power Plant into operation at that time allowed for fast pace of construction of combined harvesters, aluminum and ferroalloy plants, state district power station at Yermak and for establishment of favorable conditions for operation of industrial companies and utility needs of city dwellers.
The following years have become the logical follow-up of capacity expansion and construction of new power generating and transmitting facilities necessary for the further development of energy sector of the given area.
“Tight” nineties that were marked by frequent change of owners, absence of fuel and funds and, which is the most important, lack of desire to invest funds into repair of equipment resulted in submarginal conditions of heat-and-power plant.
Nevertheless, situation cardinally changed when nine years ago Pavlodar Heat-and-Power Plant No.2 became a member of “Pavlodarenergo” JSC, which completely reconstructed it and overhauled all its power generating units, thus increasing production capacity and ensuring reliability of heat-and-power plant operation.
50th anniversary of Heat-and-Power Plant No.2 is the right moment to say proudly that there was not any serious accident over the whole period of its operation and it operates during autumn-winter period of maximum loads relatively stably and reliably. And single-hearted people, honest and reliable employees having great experience and knowledge, do their best to ensure leading position of the heat-and-power plant nowadays.
